Boards and commissions policy update
The council quietly dissolved the Human Relations Commission on the consent calendar; the city manager plans a staff advisory committee with a similar scope, and HRC applicants will be redirected to other commissions.
New labor agreements with city employee unions
The council approved four-year contracts with the city's largest union (about 560 SEA/IFPTE workers) and SEIU's 42 part-time employees, including raises and new parental leave benefits. Both unions ratified the deals overwhelmingly.
November 2026 ballot measure positions
Council formally backed transit funding (Measure RTM) and three Sunnyvale charter amendments, and opposed two state propositions limiting local revenue-raising and modifying environmental review.
Possible change to 6 p.m. meeting start times
The City Council is considering moving board and commission meetings from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. Most commissioners pushed back, saying 7 p.m. is easier for people with jobs and commutes; staff will follow up by email.
HUD Action Plan federal funding
Federal CDBG and HOME grants will fund childcare provider coaching, youth counseling, free home repairs for low-income seniors, and rental assistance that has housed nine out of ten formerly homeless participants.
